Go Go Wahai Services!

Malaysia to liberalise parts of services sector

Malaysia said Wednesday it will liberalise parts of the services sector, removing ownership rules linked to a controversial affirmative action policy for majority Muslim Malays.

Prime Minister Najib Razak, who was sworn in earlier this month, said that 27 sub-sectors would be liberalised "to attract more investments, bring in more professionals and technology as well as strengthen competitiveness."

The areas targeted for liberalisation are in the areas of health and social services, tourism, transport, business services and computer and related services.

Businesses in those service industries will no longer have to be 30 percent owned by "bumiputera" -- a term that means "son of the soil" and takes in Malays and indigenous tribes.

The rule is part of the New Economic Policy (NEP), launched after 1969 racial riots, in an effort to narrow the wealth gap between ethnic Chinese -- who control the business sector -- and Malays, who dominate government.

Critics say the policy has failed and that its biggest beneficiaries have been Malay entrepreneurs who cash in on an array of perks including discounts on property purchases and specially allocated government projects.

"The liberalisation of the services sector is pursued with the view of creating a conducive business environment to attract investments, technology and to create higher value employment opportunities," Najib said.

"These efforts are expected to enhance the level of competitiveness of the services sector in the country," he said in a statement.

Wan Suhaimi Saidi, an analyst at Kenanga Investment Bank, said the move was a response to criticism that the bumiputera policy is making Malaysia more uncompetitive even as it slides towards recession during the global downturn.

"The move is clearly about relaxing the equity conditions that have been a bone of contention among some investors," he said.

"Eliminating the 30 percent bumiputera equity requirement in these service sub-sectors is good for the market as it will encourage investment in a more politically correct way."

Under the measure, up to five international law firms will also be allowed to offer services relating to Islamic finance. The government wants the Muslim-majority country to become a global hub for Islamic banking.

Idolized- Aftermath.

BEHOLD,

OUR UTAR IDOL.....

Ee Xin, WE LOVE YOU FOREVER!

And so it has come to a halt,
the ending of UTAR Idol.

It is actually a history that drove my thirst of anticipation (like wth??), when I see everyone working for it, and that even happens before the real day.
On the day itself, we worked it out in our way, and it is real good to sing with all that feels the same. I mean, in the process of 'comrade hunting', you'll eventually land onto a new found land like this....it's so nice, as I feel it.

The stage was a great one. As there were fans for everyone, there were this glamour factor all around the corner, it was exciting, it was anticipated, it was boiling and dramatic, as it was all happening. Guess it made all of us feel like we're stars and the stage is all ours :D

This is really a precious weekend to me, cause it gathers all the emotion from the bottom of my heart. New friends were made, existing friends were supportive and old friends popped out out of my expectations... these discovers are already my three priceless trophies. I'm still so excited okay XD.

And not to forget my cute family members and relatives as well... it's just the UTAR idol but I've never felt such great support ever...thanks for the emails calls and everything!

As for my performance,
the duet was a nice one :)
To partner with my other team mate aka chung guo wawa 2 hao, it was really a great experience. No doubt that practises tensed us up in a sense, but in the end we do really try to let go ourselfs and just work out for the best, wooohooo way to go Ee Xin and Yon Lynn! :D I believed everyone felt what we were trying to express :)

And the solo part...
to sing Loving You was actually a random choice. Nothing like a deep thought, nor any analysis or consequences to be bared in mind for. Even before going upstage, it was all thrown at the back of the mind.
I didn't do my whistling well, but I guess I should syukur that I hit the right notes =_=
And lucky enough for me that nothing bad happen on the other parts. Actually I enjoyed being the medium for just 3 minutes. Macam Mi Magee kan? Hhahahaha.

The 2nd runner up is merely part of the memory, all that it counts is all of the before that made me thankful sangat. This is the moment where I get my golds collected :D

OKAY!
Last but not least, a shoutout to the loves out there!
Much thanks to Shi Hoay and Hui Min, Janice, Jophennie, Siaw Chan, Min Lynn, Louis, Kanachee, Kanamui, Yung Shen and Rica, Yoke Fong, Orange, Alex, Siew Wan, Lu Ling and Hui Hsing,

Idolized.

UTAR idol,
another (rather outdated) idol trend among the waited-to-be-entertained.

Actually... this is a chance to expect for the unexpected,
other than that,
there's nothing to be hoped for.

It is, however,
nothing that glamorous even compared with this poster.

Come on, you can do better..
just drop by and see what show is to be suspense-d later...

Furball.

You make me so uncomfortable.

I am so tired of you.

Just go away and don't stick onto me.

Although I know you still will, in the end.

I tried telling you in every way.
I tried to be cautious, without being harsh,
yet you are still far from my expressions.

I have no intention to confuse your interpretations,
yet I still can't get to you.

Am I not clear enough to tell you,
that I'm trying not to get this close to you?

You should just stay away,
furball.
